Frequently asked questions
About journey times.
Why does it take longer than by car?
A 40-tonne truck’s speed limiter is set at 90 km/h, and the driver takes breaks and rest periods on a fixed schedule. Over long distances, the 11-hour daily rest matters more than speed.
Can it get there faster?
Sometimes, yes: with a reduced daily rest, 10-hour driving days or two drivers. Tell us the deadline you need and we’ll tell you what can be done legally.
Do trucks run at weekends?
Romania and the Netherlands have no general weekend ban, only temporary restrictions on some roads. Germany, Austria and Hungary have weekend driving bans for trucks over 7.5 tonnes, and the calculator takes them into account.
